Tangut Character Finder

Search the Tangut ideographs of Unicode by their structure and components. Each character is described by a shape modelled on Nishida Tatsuo's structural classification and by the Unicode components in each position of that shape, with its Unicode source reference and radical-stroke index.

How the search works: , also under ? beside the search box.

Sources and licences

The shapes are modelled on Nishida Tatsuo's 44 (A Study of the Hsi-Hsia Language, 1966), as Alan Downes's thesis gives them. The parts start from Andrew West's IDS and follow the glyphs of the Unicode 18.0 code charts. Dictionary numbers and radical-stroke indexes are Unicode's (TangutSources.txt), mostly from Lǐ Fànwén's 夏漢字典 (2008). The glyphs added in Unicode 17.0 and 18.0 are GlyphWiki's.

The database and the pages are under the GNU GPL v3; Unicode's data is under the Unicode License v3. The font Tangut Yinchuan is © Jǐng Yǒngshí (景永時), who asks to be acknowledged when it is used in a publication; Noto Serif Tangut is under the SIL Open Font License; the glyphs of GlyphWiki are free to use, copy and distribute (GlyphWiki's licence).
